Walk into a non-Muslim country airport and ask for the prayer room. Half the time you'll be met with a blank stare, pointed toward a generic "quiet zone," or told to check the app — which also doesn't know. Finding prayer spaces at international airports outside the Muslim world is genuinely hard, and the information that exists is scattered, outdated, or locked behind airport apps that require you to be inside the terminal to use.
This guide changes that. We've verified prayer room data at 37 major international airports across four regions — Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Middle East hubs — and organized it by where you're most likely to need it. Each featured airport entry shows terminal location, wudu access, hours, and a practical tip.
New to SafarPass? The interactive Prayer Room Finder lets you search and filter all 37 airports with wudu status and 24-hour access filters. The hub guides at safarpass.polsia.app/guides go deeper on each major airport with halal dining, lounge access, and non-rev tips.
Americas
North America has the most inconsistent prayer room situation of any region. Rooms exist but are buried in signage and rarely promoted.
In North American airports, prayer spaces are often listed as "reflection rooms" or "interfaith chapels" — never as "prayer rooms". Ask information staff specifically for the interfaith room.

- Use the exact right vocabulary. In North America and Europe, prayer rooms are almost never labelled as "prayer rooms." Ask for the "interfaith room," "reflection room," "multi-faith room," or "quiet room." In airports without staff who speak English, the international sign is two praying hands — look for that symbol on wayfinding maps.
- Go to the information desk, not the app. Airport apps are rarely updated with prayer room locations. Staff at information desks know exactly where the facility is and can give you walking directions — including whether it requires a keycard (common in some US terminals).
- Look near chapels and first aid centers. Multi-faith prayer rooms are almost always located close to airport chapels and medical centers in Western airports. If you find the chapel, the multi-faith room is usually within 100 meters.
- Check before security if you're tight on time. Some airports (notably LAX, ORD, ATL) have prayer facilities both landside (before security) and airside (after security). If your departure is close, the landside room may be your better option.
- Download SafarPass data offline. Our Prayer Room Finder works from your browser with no app install required. Bookmark it before your trip so you have it when cellular data is limited or expensive.
- Build in a 20-minute buffer. Prayer rooms at busy international airports can be occupied during peak prayer times (especially Dhuhr during midday peak hours and Maghrib during evening waves). Give yourself time to wait or find an alternative quiet spot.
- Bring a travel prayer mat. Quality and cleanliness of prayer mats in airport rooms varies enormously. A compact travel mat (fits in a jacket pocket) gives you flexibility to use any clean, quiet space if the dedicated room is full.
