Prayer Rooms
5 entries
Terminal 1 Main Mosque
Large, well-maintained mosque with separate sections for men and women. Wudu facilities available. Holds several hundred worshippers.
Pro Tip
Open 24/7. Gets crowded during Jumu'ah. Arrive 20 min early on Fridays.
Terminal 3 Prayer Room (Emirates)
Emirates' dedicated terminal has multiple prayer rooms throughout. Clean, carpeted, with Qibla direction clearly marked on walls.
Pro Tip
Smaller rooms near individual gates are less crowded than the main prayer hall.
Concourse A Prayer Rooms
Premium prayer facilities in the A concourse. Well-lit, spacious, with digital prayer time displays and Quran copies available.
Pro Tip
Two locations—one near the food court, one deeper in. The deeper one is quieter.
Terminal 2 (flydubai) Musalla
Compact but functional prayer space in the budget terminal. Wudu area is small—consider making wudu at the hotel if arriving from the city.
Pro Tip
Terminal 2 is separate from T1/T3. Allow extra transit time if connecting.
Arrivals Prayer Room
Right after immigration, before baggage claim. Useful if your flight lands at prayer time—no need to rush through the airport.
Pro Tip
Small but functional. Good for a quick prayer before heading to the city.
Halal Dining

Al Makan (Airside)
Authentic Middle Eastern cuisine with fresh hummus, shawarma, and grills. One of the best non-fast-food options in the terminal. Generous portions.
Pro Tip
The mixed grill plate is a standout. Portions are large enough to share.
Shakespeare and Co.
Upscale cafe chain popular in the Gulf. Great breakfast options, pastries, and coffee. Feels like a proper sit-down meal, not airport fast food.
Pro Tip
Good WiFi and power outlets. Great spot for a long layover work session.
Al Ustad Special Kabab (City)
A legendary Dubai institution since 1978. Iranian-style kababs that locals swear by. Worth the taxi ride from the airport if you have 4+ hours.
Pro Tip
Cash preferred. Try the kubideh kabab. No reservations—first come, first served.
Ravi Restaurant (City)
The most famous Pakistani restaurant in Dubai. Packed with locals at all hours. Curries, naan, and chai at prices that haven't changed in decades.
Pro Tip
Open until 3am. The butter chicken and brain masala are legendary. Very affordable.
Bur Dubai Street Food (City)
The old Dubai neighborhood of Meena Bazaar is a 15-minute ride from the airport and packed with Indian, Pakistani, and Yemeni street food stalls.
Pro Tip
Al Mallah for shawarma, Sind Punjab for biryani. All halal, all incredible.
Cultural Tips

Dress Code
Dubai is relatively liberal for the Gulf, but respect matters. Shoulders and knees should be covered in malls and public spaces. Beachwear is fine at beaches and pools only.
Pro Tip
Pack a light long-sleeve layer. You'll need it for the aggressive AC anyway.
Alcohol Laws
Alcohol is available at licensed hotels and restaurants but public intoxication is a criminal offense. Zero tolerance for DUI. Don't carry alcohol in public.
Pro Tip
Duty-free alcohol must go straight to your accommodation. Don't drink and metro.
Ramadan Etiquette
During Ramadan, eating, drinking, and smoking in public during daylight hours is illegal for everyone (not just Muslims). Restaurants curtain off during the day.
Pro Tip
Iftar buffets are incredible and often open to everyone. One of the best times to visit.
Photography
Don't photograph people (especially women) without permission. Military installations, government buildings, and some palaces are off-limits for photography.
Pro Tip
Airports and malls are generally fine. When in doubt, put the camera away.
Metro Culture
Dubai Metro has a Women and Children Only car (usually first car). Gold Class requires a special ticket. No eating, drinking, or chewing gum on the metro.
Pro Tip
Nol card (transit card) saves time. Available at any station.

Metro Red Line to Al Fahidi station. Allow 1 hour each way from the airport.
6-Hour Layover: Burj Khalifa + Dubai Mall
The world's tallest building and largest mall. Book the At The Top observation deck online in advance—walk-up tickets often sell out. The fountain show runs every 30 minutes after 6pm.
Pro Tip
Book Burj Khalifa tickets at least 24 hours ahead. Non-prime time slots are cheaper.
8+ Hour Layover: Desert Safari
If you have enough time, a desert safari with dune bashing, camel rides, and a BBQ dinner under the stars is unforgettable. Most operators include hotel pickup.
